Who we are

Northlight Studio is a photography studio based in Hackney Wick, London E9. We are the data controller for the personal details you share with us through this website, by email or when you book a shoot. You can reach us at hello@northlight.studio.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry we collect your name, email address, the kind of shoot, a preferred date and anything you choose to tell us in your message. If you book, we also keep the details needed to plan and invoice the shoot, such as a billing address, a phone number and the location of the day.

How we use it

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, send a quote, plan and photograph your shoot, deliver your pictures and send invoices. We do not add you to a mailing list or send marketing unless you clearly ask us to.

Why we are allowed to

We reply to enquiries because we have a legitimate interest in answering people who contact us. Once you book, we use your details to carry out our agreement with you. We keep financial records because UK law requires it.

Photographs of you

Images from your shoot are stored securely and delivered through a private online gallery. We only show your pictures in our portfolio, on this website or on social media with your permission, and you can ask us to remove them at any time.

Who we share it with

We only share details with services that help us run the studio: our website host, email provider, online gallery and accounting software. Each one handles your details on our behalf and under their own privacy terms. We never sell personal information.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become a booking are deleted after 12 months. Booking and financial records are kept for six years, as UK tax rules require. Unedited files from a shoot are kept for 12 months after delivery so we can help if you need a copy.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, correct them, delete them, limit how we use them or receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email us and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses only the cookies it needs to work. We look at simple, anonymous visitor numbers to understand which pages are useful, and this does not identify you personally.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal details, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions about this policy are always welcome at hello@northlight.studio.
